What to do with QR Codes

In designing the brochure for my photography class, I wanted people to go to the link to sign up. It's a long path etc, so a QR Code seemed appropriate. Here is the brochure for the next class.

The QR code is in the bottom right of this brochure. Scan the QR code to find the web address about this class. This is the first application I have found for the codes. A QR code can contain an email address, website URL, a phone number or other information.

Another obvious use would be to include a QR code for my website address on my "About the Artist" that I have hanging on the wall at art festivals. There technical savy folks will pull up the site, book mark it, and remember me.

Where will you put the your codes? I created the code using http://www.qrstuff.com/. You need to download the software for your phone to scan the code.

Hazel Berger Named Artist of the Year for Georgia's Sunflower Festival

I am excited to be selected as Artist of the Year of the Sunflower Festival in Rutledge, Georgia on July 2-4, 2011. This show is really in a beautiful setting. There are supervised children's activities, flowers to be picked, great music and, of course, beautiful art for sale.

Canton Festival of the Arts Success!

What a fun art show! I thought I would share my new booth shots here from the Canton Festival of the Arts. I added matted 11" x 14" works which fit a 16" x 20" frame picture in the bin above.

I am offering more canvas works at each show. Here is a shot from another angle. I am printing these large canvases (24" x 36") now. I love this product and hope you do too. They sell between $329 unframed and $429 framed. Each canvas has a protective finsh on it.

I am beginning my second year on the show circuit and I have learned so much. Thank you everyone for attending art festivals!

Savannah Georgia Riverstreet Festival Busy

There was a diverse crowd in Savannah, Georgia for Labor Day. My art is now on the way to new homes in Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, Michigan and of course, Georgia.  I stayed at Skidaway Island State Park and was able to setup my REI Base Camp 6 (pictured on the left) by myself for the first time. (I usually have help.) It took 45 minutes to completely set up and store my stuff. We would buy a kingdom 6 today because it is lighter.

When I bought the base camp 6 in 2005, I had just spent the night in a tent that leaked and I wanted to be very dry. Because of my paranoia, the REI staff recommended adding a liquid waterproofer to the seams. I set up the tent in my house in the middle of the night and began waterproofing. Unfortunately, this needed to be applied with plastic gloves, and I could not get the stuff off my hands. I desperately drove from store to store without touching the steering wheel!?! looking for a solution remover. I did find one, but everytime I see that goop on those tent seams it makes me chuckle. The tent has been wonderful and kept us very dry. The ground cloth is one of the keys to keeping the tent dry. It is often wet, but the tent dry.

Sunflower Festival was Blooming!

Just back from the Rutledge, Georgia Sunflower Festival. One of my favorite moments was when a browser said, "That's magnificient" when eyeing my 12" x 18" canvas of a magnolia tree. Then, he realized that was the title! Which I named for the flower's name. And, how cool I think magnolias are. Lots of sales and many names for my constant contact list during this show. Here is my booth from the show. The holes are sold works. I also sold lots of ACEOs this weekend. Recently bought the print bins. I like the new look. But the best part of this show was the view. The field was gorgeous. I loved listening to live country music and looking out my shop window at the field. The garden near my booth was also home to many hummingbirds. Of course, I brought my camera.

Introducing ACEOs

Don't miss my work at the OVS Chanukah Bazaar tomorrow, Sunday December 6th from 11 AM - 7 PM. This synagogue serves the most amazing food. I can't wait to have a potato bureka!

Just to make the day special I am introducing ACEOs of five of my photographic images and 4 of my religious works. I can't wait for you to see them. One is this Spring image shown to the left.

ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. Learn more on Wikipedia. They are art trading cards, which fit into baseball card sleeves. The movement to create, sell and purchase these works began in Switzerland. I think the Challah card will be just the right size to display in the kitchen. Can't wait to show you!

Behind the Scene at the Art Festival

279 miles to Beckley, WV

Beckley is my father's old stomping ground... My grandfather worked in the coal mines repairing equipment in Minden, WV. There is a coal mine here in Beckley that we toured a couple of summers ago. The Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine was operational and really portrays the hard work that went on in the mines. The tour takes you underground into the mine. The facility includes a coal camp and a gift shop.

So what is it like to stand in a booth all day? Honestly, I love it! The compliments were flowing this weekend. One of my favorites was a woman who told me she had just taken 16,000 photographs for a film. Clearly this was a true professional, and she told me I had a "good eye!" Thank you to everyone for the two days of compliments! A realestate professional asked me to shoot his properties... But I don't live there. This is an idea though!

I especially enjoyed talking to Julio (send me your links) and also Pete (I'll look for his card when I unpack) who are both photographers. One woman invited me to join in dancing next time I was in Pittsburg because of talk about the "Waltz" image. (If she only knew how tired my legs were at the end of the day...) And another neat lady told me about a purple bridge about an hour from the show. I can't wait to track that down!
