Sara Evans Gives Fans a New View on Life and Relationships

Sara Evan's new CD is a special collection about breaking up and new relationships. The title track "A Little Bit Stronger" was released several months ago and clearly is about moving on and getting over the pain of by-gone relationship. Sara is divorced (but remarried) and this makes me especially think of the pain of divorce.
"Desperately" is a song about needing love. I like the positive words about jumping into a new relationship. This song has a couple original analogies loved "like the sun loves the moon and the moon adores the shore."

"Anywhere" is a delightful ditty about going anywhere as long as "you'll ride shotgun with me." One of my favorites lines in this song is "I am sick of living my life in park; I want to live it in drive." Another neat line and idea for life is "Got all we need in cart at a checkout line."

"My Heart Can't Tell You No" is a sad song about a torturous relationship where someone is in love with someone else. Here is a photograph a created recently because of a beautiful relationship gone sour with the entrance of a third person.

After a recent breakup "Life without Losing" speaks to me. Sara sings perfectly about how it feels to constantly think about a lover. But it is heartwarming to realize that "nobody gets through life without losing." Yes, Sara keeps me looking for love.

Two fun songs are "Cabana Boy" and and 'Ticket to Ride!"  "Cabana Boy" is about just staying home and having her guy wait on her at poolside. This delight brings to mind many scenes. And his reward at the end of the day is perfectly clear. "Ticket to Ride" is about meeting someone on an airplane and getting cupid involved.

There is also a sad song about losing someone to alcohol -- "What that Drink Cost Me." "Alone" is also somewhat sad in that there are times in a relationship that we need to be alone and work through the pain of differences.

"Wildfire" is a song about someone's love lighting a fire, "a spark inside me." Sara continues this analogy throughout the song.

This CD also includes a bluegrass version of "Born to Fly," an early hit of Sara's. Born to Fly is an upbeat you-can-do-anything song.

My favorite song on the CD is Cabana Boy. I listened to the CD skiing recently and went much faster every time this song played. This will be a great summer release.

Sara Evans Sings after Braves Win

Sara Evans is absolutely my favorite singer. Why? I do love the twang; she's country. Also, I guess in part because I heard her Cryin' Game after a particularly bad breakup, and it just settled me some how... And, I love her rendition of I Could Not Ask for More, an Edwin McCain song. In my opinion her version blows his out of the water. This photograph below (of mine) is named after this song.

The concert was perfect at the Braves. My youngest said, "This is boring. I've heard all these songs thousands of times." Which really made me smile.  But he was lucky to be there. His young friend happened to know all the words to Cheap Trick's "I want you to want me," which Sara closed with. She played two songs she doesn't usually play at a concert:  Backseat of a Greyhound Bus (which is a sad song about a woman/girl falling in love with her baby she births on the backseat of a greyhound bus) and Coalmine (I love this because my grandfather was a coalminer, and I so wonder if my grandparents might have... in this song, which is very hard to imagine). Here's the list of song she sang tonight 8/7/2010..

As if
Perfect
Born to fly
Backseat of Greyhound Bus
I Keep Looking
Saints and Angels
Coalmine
A Little Bit Stronger (New single written by Hilary Scott to be released 9/20)
Suds in the Bucket
Real Fine Place
I Could Not Ask for More
I Want You to Want Me

But when Sara sang Coalmine I was hopeful she might sing Pray for You, which is my favorite song. This is a sweet song about going back to mom's. I did not have that, so imagining it in the song is so wonderful. And, I hope my children will feel this way.... Sara is one of 7 children, so she probably had the whole porch thing. Here are the lyrics. Take a listen too.

Sometimes I wish I could run home to mama's lovin' arms

In the springtime, when the weather's fine
Sittin' with her on the porch, glass of tea and nothin' more
Than her smile, for just a little while
And when I don't know where to go
I think of home and how she use to sing to me, she sang
---Chorus---
Que sera, sera, life goes on
Whatever's meant to be will always be
And baby what don't kill you, will make you strong
Just love the journey that your on
In all you do, I'll pray for you

Wild horses and fairy tales sometimes turn into somethin' else
That you never saw comin' at you at all
So I guess I'm callin' just because he wasnt who I thought he was
And I can't believe he stopped lovin' me
So, when I'm feelin' all alone
I think of home and how you used to sing to me

---Repeat Chorus---

I got babies of my own
And I'm the one that they're countin' on to be here
For every little tear, and I'll sing

---Repeat Chorus---

Ok... so did I take my camera to the Braves game? Of course. And, I did pay attention to the game. We are now big Wagner fans. I think he pitched nine strikes in a row to seal the shutout. By the way, A camera lens needs to be smaller than 5 inches for entry in Turner Field, so these were shot at some distance with a 200 mm lens. Search stadium bag rules to find out before you attend the game. The Tampa Rays allows a 12 inch lens.

Magnolia Photographs on YouTube

View many of my Magnolia flowers on YouTube in this video. Most of these photographs are hanging at the Roswell Tea House until May 29, 2010 in Roswell, Georgia. I chose Sara Evans' song titled perfect because these flowers, like a relationship, are perfect in their imperfections. Learn more about the art show at www.hazelberger.com/magnoliasonmagnoliastreet.html.

Sara Evans -- Pray for You

Car mileage -- 260.5

Bke mileage -- zero

Our road trip has begun... We stopped past Charlotte, NC to avoid traffic in the AM. On the way we listened to music mostly. By far Sara Evans is my favorite artist. She is country... with a twang that won't be for everyone. My favorite song of hers was released last year on the greatest hits CD. I listened to it to today and it was a great song to start off our road trip... Sara says, "And baby what don't kill you, will make you strong. Just love the journey that you're on."

Pray for You starts off, "I wish I could run home to mama's lovin' arms... sittin' with her on the porch, glass of tea and nothin' more." To me this is a sweet song about strength and grabbing hold of it.

Packing was hard... driving 2600 miles with three kids in tow will be hard too, but it will all be worth it. I hope you will follow us on our journey to Cape Cod for the 4th of July and back over the next couple weeks. We will be listening to many audio books, camping out, cooking, sight-seeing and of course I will be publishing my photographs here.
